Universal Field Robots bought by Sandvik
News: Australian mining robot company sells out to the Swedes.
Universal Field Robots (UFR), an Australian-based provider of autonomous interoperable solutions for the surface mining and underground mining markets, has been acquired by Sandvik.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Sandvik is an engineering group providing solutions for the manufacturing, mining and infrastructure industries.
The companies agreed not to disclose the purchase price
UFR will be integrated into Sandivk’s Digital Mining Technologies, a division within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions.
UFR’s solution portfolio is built on a common autonomy platform, which fits with Sandvik’s automation offering and includes OEM agnostic robotic and autonomous solutions for trucks, loaders and auxiliary equipment.
The deal is aimed at increasing the potential market for Sandvik and further strengthens the market position of Sandvik AutoMine - a leading mining automation platform.

UFR has approximately 40 employees and is headquartered in Brisbane, Australia. In the financial year that ended in June 2024, the company generated revenues of approximately SEK 80 million.
